Letters to the Editor

first_imgGE must come back to SchenectadyIn the 1940s during World War II, Schenectady’s population was 30,000. General Electric employed 50,000. After the war, GE kept other companies from moving to Schenectady because they didn’t want employment competition.During those years, GE took care of their employees and Schenectady was prospering. We were called the Electric City.Somewhere in the 1960s, GE changed from industrial to financial. GE was doing so good in the finances, it started to cut its industry market. It started to move out of Schenectady and go south. After Schenectady workers made GE billions, the company left us flat. Our taxes went up, we received less in our pensions, and GE got rid of our health insurance. GE took our best years and gave us nothing in return. Dems to blame for immigrant violenceThe Democratic leaders in Congress have blood on their hands. How many more American citizens have to die at the hands of illegal immigrants? The Democrats have refused to accept the fact that President Trump won the election. Well he did. Get over it.Lowell MontgomeryMayfieldMore from The Daily Gazette:Cuomo calls for clarity on administering vaccineGov. Andrew Cuomo’s press conference for Sunday, Oct. 18EDITORIAL: Beware of voter intimidationEDITORIAL: Urgent: Today is the last day to complete the censusFoss: Should main downtown branch of the Schenectady County Public Library reopen? Take a look at some of the presidents we had and how bad they were. The Democratic Party isn’t what it used to be.They were good for the country and the people – not anymore.  They fight Trump on closing the border. Do you know that there are 11 million illegal immigrants in this country who have jobs? These jobs are taken away from good citizens of this country.Take a good look at this last election. In New York, it’s all Democrats. Gov. Andrew Cuomo wants to give criminals a college education and the right to vote and also believes in abortions. Paul Tonko helps illegal immigrants. Wake up. Have respect for our president and the ones who fought for this country. Let’s build the wall. Rep. Pelosi, Sen. Schumer and former President Obama – all Democrats — are just looking for the votes to control the country. God help us.Vincent BelardoAlbany Schenectady was their gold mine, and they deserted us. We built the best turbines gas and steam generators in the world and taught Japan and China how to build them. Then GE moved there. Schenectady was a parts supplier. The only way GE will recover is to come back to Schenectady where it had the best of the best employees. Schenectady has to be its priority in employment.New York has to give GE a tax break, along with Schenectady. President Trump has done his part for tax breaks. Gov. Andrew Cuomo has to follow suit.My dad put in 41 years with GE. I had 20 years with GE and was a union rep. General Electric will rebound.Claude Rizzicone Jr.Schenectady Categories: Letters to the Editor, OpinionDems, not Trump, are the big problem  I was a registered Democrat, and as a 100 percent disabled veteran of World War II, I can’t see how you keep bashing President Trump. How can you listen to all this garbage the Democrats put out? All this Russian investigation is a waste of money. Why bring up what happened before he became president? Let him do what he said he would do if he won. He’s not a politician. He’s a street person with more brains than the politicians we have now. Do you believe that Russia can tell you how to vote?last_img
