This position involves duties related toteaching, research, and service to the Department andUniversity.TeachingTeaching responsibilities for this position will includeundergraduate and graduate coursework in clinical psychology, thecandidate’s area of specialization, and as needed by thedepartment. Undergraduate courses may include writing inpsychology, statistics, research methods, psychopathology (childand/or adult), clinical psychology, and introductorypsychology.The MS Clinical Psychology graduate program is rooted inevidence-based practice and seeks to train master’s levelpsychotherapists consistent within that framework. Graduate courseresponsibilities may include teaching child or adultpsychopathology, family and couples therapy, lifespan development,psychology of contemporary families, theories and methods ofpsychotherapy, addictions, applied research methods, crisis andtrauma counseling, gender and ethnicity in psychotherapy, andfieldwork. The candidate must demonstrate awareness and experienceunderstanding the needs of a student population of great diversity– in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language, andacademic preparation – through inclusive course materials, teachingstrategies, and advisement.ResearchThe candidate will be expected to develop a program of research andto pursue both internal and external funding. The candidate mustmaintain a productive research program, which may result fromcollaborative research across the University, with other academicinstitutions, or other external agencies. Student mentoring isvalued in our department, and a successful candidate will mentorand support undergraduate and graduate students of diversebackgrounds in conducting research.ServiceThe candidate will participate in shared governance, usually indepartment, college, and university committee and other serviceassignments.
