Employees were encouraged to put forward what they felt was the most deserving charity to be shortlisted as one of the potential beneficiaries. Once the shortlist was drawn up, the charity’s champion gave a presentation on the charity’s’ work to secure the selection at Incentive FM Group’s recent annual conference. Last year the charity received around £3,500 as the store’s Charity of the Year. Stick ‘n’ Step will also be one of a number of local charities and good causes that will receive the 5p carrier bag donation on every bag sold at the store, which has so far resulted in £1000 for the charity. The store had previously supported the charity for a number of years before making it Charity of the Year. 5) Principality Building Society & LlamauMore than 40 Principality Building Society staff members took part in the annual ‘Sleep Out’ event organised by Llamau to raise money for homeless people across Wales. Staff from the building society joined hundreds of others at Cardiff City Stadium to sleep under the stars for the night, raising just over £2,500 for the charity. Earlier this year Principality pledged its support to Llamau by choosing it as one of its three charities of the year and has so far raised more than £30,000 for the three. 7) A+E Networks & Team Rubicon UKA+E Networks UK has raised £16,800 in just over a week for Team Rubicon UK, the company’s chosen charity for its HISTORY® channel. The A+E Networks’ new London office played host to a sponsored race from 7th–11th November, with three teams of ten staff taking to stationary exercise bikes to cycle 329 miles – the distance between Team Rubicon’s UK base in Wiltshire and Keswick: the location of Operation Wordsworth, their first UK operation after the floods in 2015. As well as the cycle challenge, staff also held cake sales, auctions and raffles to raise extra money. A+E Networks is now planning to make the race an annual CSR event. The evenings may be drawing in and temperatures dropping, but while some people may be thinking of hibernating, others are still out there, raising funds for their charity partners. Here are eight great corporate fundraising partnerships that have caught our eye over the last month or so. 3) Leeds Bradford Airport and Breast Cancer HavenLeeds Bradford Airport changed colour in October for the first time in its history in support of Breast Cancer Haven, which has a centre in Leeds, and Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The airport’s terminal front lighting changed from its usual blue to pink with the aim of inspiring passengers arriving and departing the city to want to learn more about the support available for breast cancer sufferers.center_img 6) BMW Group & Whizz-KidzA two-year partnership between BMW Group and Whizz-Kidz, which ends at the end of the year, has raised more than £300,000 for the charity, which has provided life-changing equipment for 48 young people. The partnership has also seen the car company offer work experience placements to some of the charity’s beneficiaries. Fundraiser events included marathon runs, bake offs and quiz nights, while staff also volunteered their time to help at Whizz-Kidz events. 1) Bield and Whitehill Court Day Care CentreMary’s Kitchen at Whitehill Court Day Care Centre in Kirkintilloch is to receive a £2,000 donation after Bield, provider of housing and care services, received a donation from The Eagle Lodge in Bishopbriggs. The Annual Sportsman’s dinner, which is held at The Eagle Lodge, raised £6,500 in aid of three chosen charities, and for a third year Bield Housing & Care was amongst the organisations to receive a donation from pledges and auction bids on the day of the dinner. These included a Mad Hatters Tea Party in Middlesbrough, an 80s party in Newcastle, Alice in Wonderland in Derby and an American Diner in Bromley as well as Percy Pig who took to the streets of Guildford in a danceathon that went viral. Nationwide held coffee mornings nationally as well as at their head office in Swindon, a giant cake was created measuring 150 x 110cm for the event.
