The major responsibilities for thisposition are to teach and provide service in the VeterinaryTeaching Hospital, to teach didactic and laboratory courses incardiology to veterinary students, to actively participate in thetraining of cardiology and non-cardiology house officers, and todevelop a research program, which can be independent and/orcollaborative with other faculty members. Proportionate assignmentsfor each area will be based on the interests of the candidate,faculty rank, and the missions of the Cardiology program and theDepartment.The successful candidate will be one of two cardiologists on aservice with three cardiology house officers, two experienced,full-time cardiology technicians, and one veterinary assistant. TheVeterinary Teaching Hospital is a 300,000 square footstate-of-the-art facility opened in March 2015. The cardiologyservice is well-equipped with a Philips iE33 cardiac ultrasoundmachine including transthoracic and transesophageal transducers, aPhilips CX50 portable ultrasound machine, a Philips TC70electrocardiograph, a GE/ OEC 9900 fluoroscopy unit containedwithin a dedicated interventional radiology suite, an EMKAhemodynamic monitoring system, a lithium diluton cardiac outputmonitor, and Spacelabs Pathfinder Holter monitoring software foron-site study interpretation. Additional on-sight diagnosticimaging technologies include 64-slice CT scanner, 3.0 Tesla MRI,digital radiography, ultrasound, and nuclear scintigraphy.
